Designer Looks for Less - Bling it OUT!

Tuesday, December 16, 2008
Let's do some comparison shopping!

On Shopnbc.com, the Samuel Benham collection is stunning. The pieces are luxurious and stunning. Let's take a look at a few.

This beautiful pendant was listed for almost $210 before shipping. It's gorgeous detailing and is a statement maker. Compare it to our Signature Pendant at $76 and we have a savings of $134! What a difference. It also comes with our lifetime guarantee and if purchased as a bonus item can be yours for only $12 (a savings of $198). The colors are also limited to a choice of two stones, where as the Park Lane Signature Series comes in 5 different stone colors to suit your fashion needs. Topaz, Amethyst, Ruby, Jet and Pink.

At Kay Jewelers I found these beautiful earrings for $150 available in white and yellow gold. What a nice pair for that up coming party or to throw in some glamor into a weekday outfit.

Our version of these earrings, called Whisper will in either silver or gold tone can be yours for just $15 or 10% of the Kay price! What a steal! The designer look with out the designer price!

You could get Whisper in both colors and still not have paid as much for the one set. That is what I call shopping wisely.

Another hot designer is John Hardy. His creations are simply stunning. On a trip to Neiman Marcus, you can find his jewelry running from the low $200 to almost $2000 range. Very nice work and it's lovely. I was just salivating over the craftsmanship and the attention to detail.

The Kali bracelet that runs for a modest $495 at Neiman Marcus. It's chic, modern and would go with anything from jeans to that perfect black cocktail dress.

The Jewels By Park Lane has a designer inspired version of the Kali called Wild One. At the price of $59 it is the look for less and at a savings of $436! There is more to the set and it can best be seen in the catalog so just look for the Box.net widget on this page on the left hand side and download the 2008 catalog to view it on page 17. From the Earth to Beautiful Bauble: Marcasite

Sunday, December 14, 2008

Marcasite is a natural mineral used in jewelry. It is a light and brittle mineral that is often mistaken for pyrite. Pyrite and marcasite have the same chemical formula, but different crystal system, thereby making them two separate minerals. In jewelry, pyrite is used as a gem while marcasite is not. It is a mined stone and when used in jewelry, marcasite is cut and shaped very much like diamonds.

For our lovely collection of Marcasite you can look for the names of these lovely pieces:

Belair
Legacy

Graceful
Sentimental

Renaissance
(one of my personal favorites)

Le Cabaret

on our ring pages pages we have

Reign (gorgeous on any right hand)

Santa Cruz Ring
Antique Lace Ring
Legacy earrings
Antiquity Pin
Introduced in May 2008, we have a beautiful set called Dreamscape a beautiful necklace and earrings which has both marcasite and onyx to make a lovely art deco set that is timeless.

Chapter 3: Aventurine a member of the Quartz Family

Monday, November 3, 2008
The cool feel of quartz, so smooth and beautiful emitting a sense of calm no matter what color it happens to be. Today we will take a look at aventurine, which is part of the quartz family.

Aventurine is the Star Sign for Libra and the Planetary stone of Taurus.

Aventurine is a translucent to opaque variety of microcrystalline quartz. It contains small inclusions of shiny minerals which give the stone a sparkling effect known as aventurescence. Inclusions of mica will give a silverish sheen, while inclusions of hematite give a reddish or grayish sparkle.

Aventurine ranges in color from green, peach, brown, blue and a creamy green. Besides its uses in jewelry, aventurine is also used for ornamental purposes like vases, bowls, and figurines.

Aventurine is found in India, Chile, Spain, Russia, Brazil, Austria, and Tanzania. It is a 6.5 on the Mohs scale of hardness. This mineral is often mistaken for amazonite or jade.

It is interesting that the name for the stone is derived from an accident. Sometime during the 18th century, Venetian glass workers were preparing molten glass when copper filings accidentally fell into the batch producing a glass with sparkles. The name aventurine comes from the Italian "a ventura," which means"by chance".

Deposits are found in Brazil, India, Austria, Russia, and Tanzania.

Folklore, Legend, and Healing Properties:

Aventurine has been used as a lucky talisman and is a popular stone for gamblers.

Legends say that it is an all-purpose healer, used to reduce stress, develop confidence, imagination and improve prosperity. A legend from ancient Tibet says that aventurine was used to improve nearsightedness and to increase the wearer's creativity.

Many believe that aventurine has the capacity to calm a troubled spirit and bring about inner peace.

The gem varieties of quartz have been used as gemstones and other ornamental objects for thousands of years. Green aventurine quartz is a popular lapidary material today, showing an atractive natural green color when polished or when wet. In the past, green aventurine quartz has been miscalled Indian jade although the specific gravity and refractive index can readily identify aventurine quartz from jade.

Some of the earliest primitive stone tools (axes) fashioned by man's ancestors 2.5 million years ago in the Omo valley in Ethiopia, were made of quartz varieties such as quartzite. These materials were used because of their hardness and their isotropic brittleness which made it possible to shape the tools with relative ease.

Quartzite is also used as a building material.

The name quartz comes from a Saxon word meaning cross vein ore. The astrological sign of green aventurine quartz is aries.
Green aventurine quartz is an alternate birthstone for the month of August.

Source: Bernadine Fine Art jewelry and mineralminers.com

It's no wonder the set that features the stone has a name that evokes thoughts of calm and escape to paradise. The Mandalay set looks lovely and can go from casual to evening making your outfit look wonderful.

The pleasing green and the oh so in purple compliment each other so well. This set is sure to put you in a calming mood ready for anything.

With the rich colors of the Holiday season coming in this set is sure to add brilliance to any outfit you can think of.

The earrings are light and airy. They won't weight down the earlobe which is great when considering a chunky earring. They also have the beautiful artisan quality to them which is always a source of comment and compliment when worn.

The ring called Margarita is great for that right hand and adds a splash of color in a sea of clear stone right handed rings.

The Mandlay bracelet is completley adjustable. Giving you versatlity and a customized look.

Dare to stand out, look confident, destress with this aventurine. Come bling with me. Ask me how you can purchase these peices for just $12 each. Your jewerly is waiting for you!

Compliment your Rings & Bracelets with a Beautiful Home Manicure

Thursday, October 30, 2008

So many beautiful rings and bracelets to wear and complete your look, the accessory to this beautiful baubles is beautiful hands and nails. With more and more people saving money and the economy in a downturn, why spend the $20 for a manicure when you can take some me time and do it at home. You don't have to inhale massive amounts of fumes and for not a lot of coin you can have beautiful nails any diva would be proud to show off.

The following article is from Styles101.com:

1. Remove any old nail polish.

2. Shape the nail, using a file or emery board. File each nail tip from corner to center; do not file in a see-saw motion with the emery board because doing so can cause ridges in the nail and nail splitting. By filing nails to a point...this will make nails weak. A rounded or square form is the strongest.

3. Soak the hands in warm, soapy water for a few minutes to remove dirt. This will also soften cuticles and make it easier to push cuticles back. Clean under free edge of nail with orangewood stick.

4. The cuticle is the skin that grows from the finger onto the base of the nail (nail root). Push the cuticle gently back. Leaving the cuticle intact helps to prevent infection of the nail growing tissue. NEVER cut cuticles! This can cause the nail to die if done improperly!
A weekly manicure can do wonders for your nails and cuticles. Not only will a weekly manicure promote faster nail growth, your nails will also become stronger with each manicure. Treat yourself and have a manicure professional done. The usual cost ranges from $10 upwards to $20, plus the manicurists' tip and the appointment lasts about 30-45 minutes with drying time. If going to the nail salon is not an option, opt to give yourself a manicure at home. Do it yourself Manicures, not only make your hands look great, they're easy to do!
Do it yourself manicure

5. Apply a base coat. We highly recommend calcium gel. This works wonders to help nails grow faster and hardens as well. Allow to dry for a minute or two. Next apply 2 coats of favorite polish. Then finish with a shine sealer. Allow nails to fully dry for at least an hour.

6. Finally, apply a moisturizing cream or lotion to the hands and cuticles. This will help prevent splitting of the nails.

They also provided some natural recipes for natural nail care these are great for wanting to do a spa day!

Earth to Bauble: Chapter 2 Turquoise

    Thursday, October 23, 2008

Ahh the cool beauty of Turquoise. The universal appeal of this stone spans the centuries from ancient Egypt to our American Indian peoples and to the runways and catwalks for spring and summer fashions in particular.

Here in Texas and the Southwest it is a staple in our wardrobes just as jeans are a must have. But what exactly is Turquoise? How is it processed from it's raw form to the beautiful and artistic pieces of jewelry we know and love.

Turquoise is hydrated aluminum copper phosphate that often contains iron. It's name sake comes from the French pierre turquoise meaning "Turkish Stone" referring to trade routes from the east. It is a soft stone, softer than quartz and so when when manufacturers.considering using turquoise it is often process or stabilized in order to increase the strength of the stone.

The diversity in color is due to it's location in the soil and the presence of other elements in the raw stone. The bandwidth of colors range from sky blue to a grey-green color.

The striking blue color of turquoise is derived from the presence of copper in the soil, while the green color is a result of the presence iron or chromium.

Turquoise has been mined for eons, since at least 6000 B.C. Early Egyptians wore the stone, and many turquoise pieces have been found in their tombs. The ancient Aztecs in Northern Peru used to decorate their ceremonial masks with this stone, which they considered holy. Persian philosopher Al Kazwini wrote that "the hand wearing a turquoise and using it as a sealing stone will never be poor." Turquoises were used to decorate turbans, often set in a border of pearls, to protect the wearer from the evil eye. The gemstone did not reach Europe until the Crusades.

Turquoise is considered a stone of wholeness, promoting the sense of unity of the self and oneness with all that surrounds us. It is said to make one feel at home in both the physical and spiritual worlds. It also is believed to assist the absorption of nutrients while strengthening the immune system and stimulating tissue regeneration. Crystal healers recommend it for detoxification of alcohol, poisons or radiation. Turquoise is mined in the U.S.A. (Nevada, Arizona, New Mexico), China, Peru, Mexico, Persia (Iran), Tibet, Siberia, Africa, Australia and Europe.

Information on Turquoise has been provided by The Gemstone Beads Index @ Rings & Things.com http://www.rings-things.com/gemstone/index.html

To become decked in this gorgeous stone, or to give someone the gift of turquoise, contact me to place your order. Check out the 2008 Catalog in the links to your right.

    Purple in all it's splendor!

    Friday, October 17, 2008

Ah, my favorite color is the rage for fall. PURPLE! The rich color of royalty and the beautiful color of grapes. It can be seen in everything this season from head to toe.

New York Fashion week was blooming with the seductive hue, from eggplant to plum this color is number one!
Perusing fashion magazines, I've seen purple tights on a model with a basic black dress and shoes. The purple was gorgeous. The other items that stood out in piece were her accessories all clad in gold accessory which matched the buckles in her shoes. The look was striking and so do able for the everyday woman.

I found a beautiful Top at JCPenny now marked down to the super-affordable price of $14.99. It comes in the striking Grape color and i just had to list it. It's by Worthington and it made me think of one of the characters from the Jane Austen Book club movie, Prudie Drummond play by Emily Blunt who always wore chic clothing, because she was a french teacher and followed Coco Chanel to the letter rebelling from her hippy dippy mom.

To go with that I would also pair the blouse with a sumptuous pair of purple shoes. Carlos Santana always seems to delight my fancy when it comes to a beautiful and sexy shoe. The shoe is called Bliss. At a bit of a cost for shoes on sale at zappos.com for $98.10, these shoes have personality and still steep of traditional Mary Janes with the novelty of he double straps and the sexy attitude of the croco pattern and stacked platform.

What's left when you have a great basic skirt in grey or black or even a basic pant to make it more like Katherine Hepburn? Accessories!

For this classic look i would add the beauty of the Legend bracelet which comes in silver or gold tone and is Tiffany inspired bracelet sure to garner attention with out the loss in the pocketbook @ a retail value of $59 this bracelet is a save compared to the price of it's designer counterpart. It can also go home with you for $12 when taking advantage of the Customer purchase program.

For something a little more full i would wear the Volume Bracelet with 9 connected bangles for that wonderful clinking sound every time the arm moves and the Unite Ring to compliment the layered look of the bangles.

Also offered in the catalog which are some of my favorite pieces:

The Signature set in amethyst, here is a picture of the ring. It is a truly stunning set. with a matching pendant, and stunning bracelet.Signature Ring- Amethyst

Others of my favorites in purple are: The Rock On set:

Gorgeous and huge amethyst on strands of glass beads and amethyst chip beads. Great for casual wear and the everyday.

There are many more beautiful items to help you splash into purple for this season. I can help you get those items and your most expensive ones for $12. Host a party and you can get them for FREE and at half price! Look great, save money and enjoy the decadent flair of purple for this season!
