Vintage Santa Gift Tags bling with gold ink

Friday, November 12, 2010
With the holiday season upon us i have decided to make items that are Christmas themed. To that end I thought of something that i would enjoy and that could be done easily. Gift tags were the answer. I love vintage Christmas cards and images. Found some Free images and this is what I came up with, a set of three tags with a vintage feel on heavy cardstock.

They all have a red grosgrain ribbon about 5" long and they are quite large making them stand out among regular gift tags. I printed them out on Bazzil white card stock. Then proceeded to hank ink the border to give it a worn and antique feel. The ink color was simply called Gold by Stampabilities. The font I found on DaFont.com call Penshurst Shadow. It's a very classic font and I love how it fits in with the vintage cards.

I love this one. Bells for Christmas just make me happy and remind me of It's a Wonderful Life.
Found this information on Holidayinsights.com

Why Bells??
Bells announce the coming or arrival of an event, activity, or occasion. They toll for good times. They toll for bad times. They ring out warnings. Bells herald in the New Year. Bells are rung to announce the union of a man and a woman. They are rung during Christmas to announce the arrival of the season, to proclaim the birth of Christ.
Ringing of bells can be traced back to pagan winter celebrations. During those times, noisemakers were used to scare away evil spirits in the night. Among those early noisemakers were bells. People had fun ringing the bells and making noise. It was too much fun to just use bells to scare demons away. So over time, bell ringing was incorporated into other events and activities. Bells are rung at churches to call people to gather, as warnings, and to bring people together to make announcements.
From these ancient roots, the ringing of bells began to be used in the Christian Christmas season. The soft, cheerful tones blended well and enhanced the sounds of the season. Today, they play an important, traditional role during the holiday.

I love this tag with the mistletoe toe. It's just stunning and timeless.

My thrid and final tag:

What is Christmas without children. This cherubic pair fit the bill for happy Christmas carolers or children on the way to Grandma's house to celebrate. Bearing holly and misteltoe they are just too cute for words.

They are listed as a set in my Artfire store. I hope they make someone's gifts extra special or add great art to a scrapbook page. More to come soon keep checking back.Photobucket Image Hosting

Chapter 3: Aventurine a member of the Quartz Family

Monday, November 3, 2008
The cool feel of quartz, so smooth and beautiful emitting a sense of calm no matter what color it happens to be. Today we will take a look at aventurine, which is part of the quartz family.

Aventurine is the Star Sign for Libra and the Planetary stone of Taurus.

Aventurine is a translucent to opaque variety of microcrystalline quartz. It contains small inclusions of shiny minerals which give the stone a sparkling effect known as aventurescence. Inclusions of mica will give a silverish sheen, while inclusions of hematite give a reddish or grayish sparkle.

Aventurine ranges in color from green, peach, brown, blue and a creamy green. Besides its uses in jewelry, aventurine is also used for ornamental purposes like vases, bowls, and figurines.

Aventurine is found in India, Chile, Spain, Russia, Brazil, Austria, and Tanzania. It is a 6.5 on the Mohs scale of hardness. This mineral is often mistaken for amazonite or jade.

It is interesting that the name for the stone is derived from an accident. Sometime during the 18th century, Venetian glass workers were preparing molten glass when copper filings accidentally fell into the batch producing a glass with sparkles. The name aventurine comes from the Italian "a ventura," which means"by chance".

Deposits are found in Brazil, India, Austria, Russia, and Tanzania.

Folklore, Legend, and Healing Properties:

Aventurine has been used as a lucky talisman and is a popular stone for gamblers.

Legends say that it is an all-purpose healer, used to reduce stress, develop confidence, imagination and improve prosperity. A legend from ancient Tibet says that aventurine was used to improve nearsightedness and to increase the wearer's creativity.

Many believe that aventurine has the capacity to calm a troubled spirit and bring about inner peace.

The gem varieties of quartz have been used as gemstones and other ornamental objects for thousands of years. Green aventurine quartz is a popular lapidary material today, showing an atractive natural green color when polished or when wet. In the past, green aventurine quartz has been miscalled Indian jade although the specific gravity and refractive index can readily identify aventurine quartz from jade.

Some of the earliest primitive stone tools (axes) fashioned by man's ancestors 2.5 million years ago in the Omo valley in Ethiopia, were made of quartz varieties such as quartzite. These materials were used because of their hardness and their isotropic brittleness which made it possible to shape the tools with relative ease.

Quartzite is also used as a building material.

The name quartz comes from a Saxon word meaning cross vein ore. The astrological sign of green aventurine quartz is aries.
Green aventurine quartz is an alternate birthstone for the month of August.

It's no wonder the set that features the stone has a name that evokes thoughts of calm and escape to paradise. The Mandalay set looks lovely and can go from casual to evening making your outfit look wonderful.

The pleasing green and the oh so in purple compliment each other so well. This set is sure to put you in a calming mood ready for anything.

With the rich colors of the Holiday season coming in this set is sure to add brilliance to any outfit you can think of.

The earrings are light and airy. They won't weight down the earlobe which is great when considering a chunky earring. They also have the beautiful artisan quality to them which is always a source of comment and compliment when worn.

The ring called Margarita is great for that right hand and adds a splash of color in a sea of clear stone right handed rings.

The Mandlay bracelet is completley adjustable. Giving you versatlity and a customized look.

Dare to stand out, look confident, destress with this aventurine. Come bling with me. Ask me how you can purchase these peices for just $12 each. Your jewerly is waiting for you!

Wish Lists take the guessing out of Gift giving!

Sunday, September 7, 2008
Gift giving can always be a little nerve racking when trying to discern the perfect gift for that special someone.

When you enjoy the Park Lane shopping experience, I can help make shopping for a gift easier. Our Wish List is a powerful tool that can make shopping for you easier on that spouse or boyfriend or significant other.

The wish list is given out during the presentation to customers so they can jot down items in the catalog and jewelry that is revealed to them during the presentation that they truly find suits their tastes.

It's a dream list or more like a Christmas List that a child would send to Santa. You have the opportunity to dream big and write things down as if money were no option. Then at the bottom of the Wish List it asks you if you'd like to join the "It's Just what I wanted!" Club. This service can be very helpful to that spouse or significant other who needs a little nudge in the right direction when choosing a gift for a birthday or anniversary.
Who has gotten that last minute bottle of perfume or the gift that wasn't quite right. By allowing me to contact your significant other around your birthday or anniversary time I can extend to them the wish list you put together during the party and they can choose the perfect piece of jewelry for you and the BEST part is that YOU already LOVE it!

It saves you from having to drop hints, and releases you from feeling guilty about suggesting a gift or even having to purchase it yourself. All you have to do is tell your spouse that you did join this club and that I will contact him about a month out from the date so he has plenty of time to choose an item and get it to your home.

It's just that simple. So the next time you are at a JBPL party with me join the "It's Just what I wanted!" Club, you and your significant other will both be happy with the results!

Email me and book a party or to order from the catalog!
